Marble Fireplaces

Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is exposed to high temperatures and pressures.

Marble forms under such conditions because the calcite forming the limestone re-crystallises forming a denser rock consisting of roughly equi-granular calcite crystals. Marble is found in the mountainous regions of most countries of the world.

The coloration is due to various mineral impurities such as clay, silt, sand, iron oxides, or chert which were originally present as grains or layers in the limestone.

Marble looks very beautiful and can add a sophisticated and opulent feel to any environment.
